Home Management of Cats with Stress Cystitis (aka feline idiopathic cystitis): This presentation will start with our latest understanding of the pathogenesis of the Stress Cystitis as this helps understand how best to manage the condition. It will then consider the many management options, including ways to increase cats drinking to reduce their urine specific gravity (and so prevent local wind-up), and how to reduce stress at home. This will include environmental changes (e.g., reducing group size, environmental enrichment, reducing stress between cats, etc.), and will also consider the pros and cons of the use of anti-depressants, drugs to relax the urethra, and GAGs supplements. Multi-modal management is often needed.
